Tips for gathering evidence to demonstrate your skills

The important thing to remember when gathering evidence is that the more evidence the better - that is, the more evidence you gather to demonstrate your skills, the more confident an assessor can be that you have learned the skills not just at one point in time, but are continuing to apply and develop those skills (as opposed to just learning for the test!). Furthermore, one piece of evidence that you collect will not usualy demonstrate all the required criteria for a unit of competency, whereas multiple overlapping pieces of evidence will usually do the trick!

MSS014020 - Optimise sustainability performance of a work area or process

What evidence can you provide to prove your understanding of each of the following citeria?

Determine current sustainability performance of work area or process

  1. Identify sustainability goals of the organisation as they relate to work area or process
  2. Compare actual with possible performance relevant to sustainability goals
  3. Identify abnormal or suboptimal sustainability performance
  4. Identify hazards associated with process, plant and/or equipment relevant to work area or process
  5. Evaluate available information and consult with key stakeholders to determine possible causes for suboptimal sustainability performance
  6. Rank possible causes from most to least probable

Develop sustainability optimisation plan

  1. Consult with stakeholders to analyse probable causes and determine options for action
  2. Predict the impact of a change in work area or process on other value chain components
  3. Predict the impact of a change in work area or process on sustainability performance
  4. Evaluate options against measurable objectives and select preferred optimisation action/s
  5. Determine activities and resources required to implement optimisation action/s
  6. Determine methods and measures to evaluate optimisation action/s
  7. Write optimisation plan and confirm or amend with input from key stakeholders
